32nd NW Garlic Festival

June 15 & 16 ~ Wilson Field ~ Ocean Park, WA

PAA has participated in the Garlic Festival for several years.  Our tents with the Garlic Poster and work from many member artists will be on hand again this year.  For more information on the Garlic Festival visit the Ocean Park Area Chamber of Commerce.

Old Fashioned 4th of July Parade ~ Sidewalk Chalk Give-Away

July 4th ~ Ocean Park, WA

PAA steps into formation for the sixth time in this family oriented favorite. Members march the parade route pulling red wagons filled with sidewalk chalk…over 1000 pieces…and encourage children along the way to “make art”! When the parade is over, the streets are filled with their artistic endeavors. Take a moment after the parade to view their work.

Starving Artist Sale

July 6 ~ 10 am to 4 pm ~ Ocean Park Library ~ 1308 256th Place, Ocean Park, WA

Some of the best bargains in town! Traditionally, this sale provided funds for PAA’s Scholarship Program.  A percentage of the sales continue to do so, but it also allows artists the chance to clear out their studios. Art, art supplies, frames, paper, canvas, books and more at rock-bottom prices. The Starving Artists Sale is a fun and casual day, allowing conversation with various artists and exceptional shopping. The sale is back at the recently expanded Ocean Park Library.  If you haven’t seen the updated facility with its timbered ceilings, the sale gives you the perfect chance to drop by.  Free admission to sale ~ ample parking available!  (This event also gives you a chance to purchase this year’s NW Garlic Festival Poster, as well as previous year’s posters, in case you missed the festival).

43rd Annual Fall Art Show

October 11, 12, 13 & 14 ~ 10 to 5 pm Friday, Saturday, Sunday ~ 10 to 2 pm Monday

New Location The Old Depot Building & PAA Office ~ 3rd and Pacific Hwy (north of Dennis Co), Long Beach, WA

Our oldest, continued art event receives an addition this year…The Fall Small Wall!  More information on this is coming, but it is guaranteed to be brilliant.  Another change is the venue…we are moving the show to the Old Depot Building at 3rd and Pacific in Long Beach.  This historic building, with natural light and high ceilings, will house the art show and our PAA office, just steps away, will host Inspired Creations and artist demonstrations.  We expect up to 50 artists to exhibit in a grouping of five categories.  People’s Choice Ribbon has the honor of being top prize in the show, with visitors being handed a ballot to choose their favorite work.  The winner of this public vote will be announced at the Artists’ Reception…public invited of course!  Inspired Creations Shopping Experience, featuring art and art inspired work for same-day purchase, allows even more art from the exhibiting artists to be on view. An art raffle, of member and public donated work, benefits the PAA High School Graduate Scholarship Fund and the Art Enrichment Program. See you at the show!  Free admission ~ street parking is available!  Come see our new home, the art and the fabulous Old Depot Building!

6th Annual Studio Tour

November 23 & 24 Peninsula Wide

Held over Thanksgiving Weekend, this two-day event encompasses 20 locations, from Chinook to Surfside, including the PAA Office, just two blocks north of Bolstad in Long Beach.

PAA artists open their studios to the public for demonstrations, sales and the chance to see art in the making. Some studio locations will host more than one artist. All offer the chance to “talk art” with PAA artists. White, black and red PAA Art Event signs clearly mark the way to the next studio.  Free Studio Tour maps, with additional directions and information are available closer to the date of the event at several locations as well as in the November 27th Chinook Observer, on our Facebook page and on our website.  This is a great way to see the peninsula and to introduce visitors and locals to our art community!

Scholarship

Peninsula Arts Association awards an annual scholarship of $1000 to a high school graduate from the Naselle Grays River or Ocean Beach School Districts.  The scholarship may be used to further the student’s visual art education in college, purchase supplies, media or equipment to enhance their artistic endeavors or pay fees for art related workshops.  The award is determined by a process of application, grade point average, letter of interest and intent regarding art, references, a portfolio of completed art work and interview with the Peninsula Arts Association Scholarship Committee.

Art Enrichment

Peninsula Arts Association is committed to encouraging art throughout the local community of artists, students, seniors, residents and visitors.  We support many community activities such as the 4th of July Parade, Community Christmas Tree ornaments, Santa’s Workshop (all Ocean Park area events), the Summerfest Program in Long Beach, art related projects at local schools and more.  We are re-designing our Art Box Program to better serve the area’s teachers with art supplies and curriculum compatible lesson plans available to “check out” according to their (the teachers) busy schedules.  We also serve as a clearing house of information about the many area art happenings through our Facebook page, web site and with bulletin emails to membership.  PAA strives to bring the joy of art to as many people as possible through exhibitions and sponsored art events.  Our Art Enrichment Program is ever changing to meet the needs of our community.

Due to the kind and generous offer from the City of Long Beach, we now have a home base to hold meetings, store all the basics needed to put on an art show and conduct art workshops.  Member workshops, called Meet Ups are in process and public workshops for all ages will first be offered this summer.  Our green and white office is located just behind the Old Train Depot in Long Beach.

World Kite Museum ~ 303 Sid Snyder Drive West, Long Beach, WA

Our art shows have received a little revamp!  This is the first time out for our new and shortened list of categories.  We re-thought the list in order to allow our artists more freedom in their creativity.  It should be a very exciting show with about 50 artists exhibiting in a grouping of five categories.  We are also giving our People’s Choice Ribbon the honor of being top prize in the show.  Visitors will be handed a ballot to choose their favorite work and the winner of this public vote will be announced at the Sunday afternoon Artists’ Reception…public invited of course!  Inspired Creations Shopping Experience, featuring art and art inspired work for same-day purchase, allows even more art from the exhibiting artists to be on view.
