PAA members celebrate over 40 years as an active art organization

About PAA

PAA was formally organized in 1970, when a group of artistically minded people came together to promote all phases of art on the Long Beach Peninsula. The membership is composed of participating artists in all fields of art, as well as patrons and those interested in encouraging and developing local cultural endeavors.

The association meets monthly, except July and August, to carry on the business of the group. The 6 pm meeting is held in the PAA office and work room, located at 3rd North and Pacific, Long Beach, WA (directly behind the Long Beach Depot and north of the Dennis Co parking lot). All are welcomed to attend. Newsletters, via email or “snail” mail, notify membership of current art events, calls for art, volunteer requests and PAA business. Peninsula Arts Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

PAA holds a Spring and Fall Art Show as well as a two-day, peninsula wide Studio Tour held on Thanksgiving weekend. July brings the Starving Artists Sale and the sidewalk chalk handout during the 4th of July Parade and member artwork is displayed year round throughout the peninsula via the “Art Around Town” program. We have an active program of Art Boxes in both elementary schools, help with the Long Beach Elementary Art Show and provide funds for the Ocean Park Elementary tree ornament program. PAA awards an annual High School Graduate Scholarship to a senior from the Ocean Beach or Naselle/Grays River Valley school districts who fulfills the application requirements and is interested in furthering their art education.

For almost as many years as PAA has been around, Art Around Town has been an integral part of how we share member’s art with the community.  The Ilwaco Hospital and the Ilwaco and Ocean Park  Libraries provide wall space for PAA artists to display their work on a two-month rotation.  Most of the work is for sale but it is not a requirement to exhibit.  For more information on Art Around Town or to see where you might wish to volunteer time within the group’s programs, please download the forms below.
